How can the food we eat teach us about who we are?

This workshop is a gastronomical adventure that is finger-licking good! Students will examine the role that food plays in different cultures and communities. In the process, they will learn how to make chocolate from scratch; harvest the cocoa pods, grind and roast the beans.

Using cutting-edge technology, participants temper and mold their own chocolate creations while exploring the kosher diet and ways to add meaning to what we put in our mouths.
The Kosher industry accounts for $100 billion in annual sales, $40 billion in the U.S. alone - it is experiencing an annual 15% growth. It is reported that over 10.5 million Americans eat kosher!
What is Kosher?
More and more products are becoming Kosher certified and almost every major supermarket carries an extensive line of kosher products. The world is now a kosher banquet.
Many people take to Kosher for health reasons. What does "Kosher" mean? What constitutes Kosher?

Merging ancient traditions with modern cutting-edge technology
There are 2 tracks to this workshop; the first is making chocolate from scratch - literally—harvesting and roasting the cocoa beans, grinding them, winnowing etc. all eight steps are followed to make delicious mouth-watering chocolate. The smell is out of this world!
The second track is working with high-end chocolate machinery and equipment to create molds of anything under the sun (well, almost!). Everything is ready to go at the conclusion of the program
